My name is Lilly Flewellen, and I want to help you preserve your family’s story.

That’s why I started Keepsake.

As a child, I loved learning about my family history through the images and objects that were passed down over the years. While visiting my grandparents each summer, I would make a habit of seeking out the items squirreled away in closets, drawers, and boxes that hadn’t been opened in years. Among them were objects that would spark a love of preservation:

  • The journal a great-great grandmother kept while traveling in a covered wagon to Florida.

  • Another great-great grandmother’s college diploma from 1882.

  • A baptismal dress made many generations ago and worn by many generations since.

  • A photo taken a century ago of the old family home place, with relatives of all ages lining the porch.

  • The letters my mother wrote home from college.

Old photo albums or slides, letters, handmade keepsakes, travel mementos, and precious artifacts were all tied to a story or memory, a generational legacy that I found fascinating. As an adult, I have inherited many of these pieces as family members have passed. I’m grateful to be able to serve as my family’s kinkeeper, but I also recognize that many families don’t have someone with the interest and skills to preserve their family history.

Since moving to Stillwater in 2023, I have worked to preserve my church’s historical records, catalog artifacts at the Stillwater History Museum, and have built ties with historical preservation experts in Stillwater and at the Oklahoma Historical Society. These experiences have reinforced the importance of this work and have given me the skills do it well. I want to use this passion and skill to help you maintain your family’s legacy.
